Mission Accomplished

Loving Arms would like to Thank you for all your hard work. In a short amount of time you have accomplished a lot and made a huge difference.  We look forward to your return.  Please see the last blog below.   We arrived home on Sunday to snow and ice.  What a difference from the beautiful temperate climate of the Guatemalan mountains.  Our last two days in Guatemala now seem a blur.  On Friday, we made our last stop at the ferreteria and

Day 4- Water Water Water

We stopped at the ferreteria again yesterday and we will need to stop there again today. They definitely recognise us when we walk in, especially the security guard and his shotgun. We finished off the water lines yesterday. We had to wait to do a water test until the afternoon when the kids had finished school as the bathrooms were on the same line as the school. We need to shut down the line to tie the new line in. When we turned the water back

Day 3 – We need to work on our Spanish!

Yesterday on our way to the Loving Arms site, we stopped at a local hardware store, a terrestrial, for some parts. At first, we had to explain to Minor that we wanted to go there. Mynor doesn't speak English and we don't speak Spanish. So we got out our Google translate and gave it a shot. Sure enough we got the message through. The terrestrial is like most hardware stores in the developing world, all of the parts are displayed on the wall. You either

Day 2- One we will not forget!

Yesterday is a day I am not likely to forget for a long time. We moved out to the Loving Arms Centre like normal. Our objectivewas to complete the cementing. As we began to prepare the trenches for cement, Alicia (the Loving Arms Guatemala Executive Director) came by with a request. While the plan didn't show it she wondered if we could rough in a spot for one more girl's toilet. This meant digging up what we had already prepared and she felt really

A Great Start – Day 1

We had a great day in Parramos Guatemala today. We drove from Antigua through the windy roads up the mountains to Loving Arms' Centre of Hope. This is where the scool is held. We arrived at the school and the doors were closed which seemed odd for a school day. As we approached the school, the doors were flung open and all the school children were lined up on either side of the door to great us. What a wonderful surprise. They were beatiful, in their

Thanks for Visiting!

This week we were blessed by a short visit from Kelsey and Marie Madeline along with 16 missionaries from the United States. The team took part in several activities with the children in our School. Thanks to the talent of one of the team members, we were able to offer a painting class to mothers of our students who greatly enjoyed this workshop. We thank the team for their missionary work and for the donation of school supplies, tennis equipment,
