March 4, 2018 – Team Update

In the morning we headed up into the hills to Parrojas, where Brian, Stephen, Jamie, and Mynor had built a house for Alejandra, a 79-year-old widow elder member of the Parrojas village. Members brought her new bedding and clothing. She told us that she feels so rich. Just check out the view from her home! Following the dedication of the house, team members walked up the hill to visit the dairy co-op. This project is sponsored by SHARE Canada. We

March 3, 2018 – Team update

On Friday, the students held a farewell assembly for the team since that was the last time they would see our team: Next, Brian's team finished the house so that it was ready to be dedicated to the village elder. The team also helped with Loving Arms monthly food distribution. The cover page of this blog showed the wonderful smiles from those receiving the packages that our gracious sponsors have provided! Members of the ladies' sewing group learned

March 2, 2018 – Team Update

On this day the team members helped with various activities at the Centre of Hope. This included an addition to the Centre to act as additional classrooms for the Colegio Cristiano Esperanza (Christian School of Hope). For the team seeing the students is always a treat and as a bonus the team was able to help the English teacher in his classes. Members of the team brought clothing and shoes that were sorted and distributed to the children. On Wednesday,

March 1, 2018 – February Team Update

Tuesday was a phenomenal day. One of the barriers to education for young women is having to deal with their menstrual cycle. Our volunteer Marg teamed up with the Charity Days for Girls and coordinated and funded the making of 115 menstrual kits. Loving Arms arranged two meetings of 50 women each. As a result, 100 women and girls would go out into the community with knowledge that will improve lives. Find out more about how Loving Arms wants to celebrate

February 28th, 2018 – Day 1 Team Update

On the first day our February team member Marg held a sewing class for some of the local women who quickly learned how to make the bag you see in the pictures below. These bags are made of Guatemalan fabric and Loving Arms hopes to be able to sell these bags so that the family can make some income! The ladies were quick learners and we even had a helper from our kindergarten class with us as well!

Merry Christmas!

On behalf of everyone at Loving Arms, I would like to extend the warmest Christmas greetings to you and your families. Thank you to everyone who gave their time to make volunteer trips to Guatemala; to those who helped us put together fundraising events, to those who donated, sponsored children, purchased Guatemalan handmade goods (or all three!), and everyone else in between. Without your generosity we wouldn't have been able to make 2017 as special

Poinsettia Fundraiser – Thank You!

Everyone here at Loving Arms would like to thank the generosity of all who helped with our Annual Poinsettia Fundraiser this year! In all we were able to raise nearly $4,000 through sale of these wonderful flowers which was enough to keep four of our children as students at the Christian School of Hope. Once again thank you for opening your hearts this holiday season and keep an eye on the blog and Facebook for more ways to help change the lives

On Tuesday, November 28th, 2017, you can join the social media movement to give back in the midst of all of your Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping. Team Update – November 2017

Here's the latest on what our most recent volunteer team has been up to on their trip down to Guatemala! The team's first event was to attend the graduation of the kindergartners to Grade 1. It was an eye opening day at the Centre of Hope where each graduate had multiple family members on hand to celebrate their big day with them. It was also a chance for Loving Arms President Linda Coghlin and Guatemalan Director Alicia Mendez to acknowledge the
