February 28th, 2018 – Day 1 Team Update

On the first day our February team member Marg held a sewing class for some of the local women who quickly learned how to make the bag you see in the pictures below. These bags are made of Guatemalan fabric and Loving Arms hopes to be able to sell these bags so that the family can make some income! The ladies were quick learners and we even had a helper from our kindergarten class with us as well!

October 27, 2014 – Day 2

Today, sewing classes commenced in the wonderful new sewing room at the Centre of Hope. Grace and Barb enjoyed meeting an advanced sewing group from Chitaburuy in the morning and a beginner's class from La Hermita in the afternoon.How welcome we felt. February 17th, 2014 – Day 1

Hello! What a way to start off the first day of our trip here in Guatemala. The team got together at Loving Arms' Centre of Hope this morning and took a tour of the newly renovated training centre. We were all very impressed and couldn't wait to start getting to work. The plan is to make sure we get the building ready for the grand opening of the Centre on Wednesday. Greenbank United Team Thursday October 10, 2013

Today started with the anticipation of a dry day and we decided to do some laundry. This was on the wash board out back and the clothesline strung in our back yard. This mornings washers were Dianne, Garry, Juli and Kelly - a group effort. Last March Grace Greenaway traveled to Guatemala with a construction team that provided funds and labour to start the medical and dental clinic. Grace, excelling in stitching, taught the women in Paraxaj how to quilt and furthered their sewing skills. All of her “students” look forward to the day she returns.
