Thank You Chartwell Team

A great, big, giant Thank You to the Chartwell Baptist Church Youth Team who were here at Loving Arms last week and worked hard, hard, hard!  This was an amazing week, watching you and all your positive energy blazing through painting our building; constructing and then erecting a new home for such a needy family; teaching moms to knit, crochet and make jewellery; starting at 6am to make pancakes for 60 children; helping in our classrooms; leading

Thursday – Chartwell Team Update

We started the day bright and early as per the last three days. The building team went out to the house in the morning and and were able to put up all the walls to make the perimeter of the house. Finally the house is staring to really come together! Back at Loving Arms during the morning the team continued to provide maintenance work for the school as well as helping out in the JK, SK, and grade one classes. When the house building team back from

This morning the building team finished construction on the walls and windows and delivered them to the house. While they were delivering the walls, the family we are building the house for watched with smiles and anticipation of their new home. It is so exciting to see the house coming together. We then had the most exhilarating bus ride to the village of Parrojas. The view from the top of the mouton was most beautiful as you could see the many

¡Gracias, Feliz Navidad y Welcome!

Thank You: We want to express our most sincere gratitude for our recent team from Mississippi State University. In one short week, the team accomplished many wonderful tasks that will continue impacting the families of Guatemala for many years. Aside from working with the 40 children from our school throughout the week, the team built a room in the Centre of Hope where the women’s co-ops will be able to sell their products, hosted a VBS at the

Guatemala December Mission Day One and Two

Our team arrived at Loving Arms at 3:00 Tuesday morning, and we were up and preparing the supplies by 9:00. A few of our members went to the Elder Center to hang out and do activities and crafts. We sang and danced, decorated Santa hats and wreaths, and talked to the elders. Other members did various chores around the Loving Arms property such as sorting through the supplies, mixing concrete, painting the house, and organizing the children’s clothes.

June 20, 2015 – Day 1

Hola Amigos! With a patience-testing travel day yesterday including bus problems and flight delays, we are extremely exhausted but very thankful to finally be in Guatemala. Even though we were working on minimum sleep, we accomplished more than we anticipated on day 1.  We started off the day early just to find out that the water for showers was not working, but it could only get better from there.  Going stinky, we ate breakfast, had devotion,

Thank you – Dresden First Baptist Church Team!

Greg’s team may not have been very large in number nor did they stay for a long time but Loving Arms is grateful for the work they did. The families of Paraxaj and Corrales were the very happy recipients of Vocational Bible Studies. Lessons were taught and reinforced through skits, games and crafts. At the Centre of Hope, the Baking Co-op learned to make two new types of cookies. The ladies can now make and sell these cookies. New skills were taught
